I have made a lot of decisions in the past week. I have stuck to some of them, and some of them I have not quite stuck to (like not buying cookies). Sigh. Planning to move, thinking about long-term relationships, deciding whether to get a doggy (a big responsibility IMO; I'm not getting a lazy dog or a dog who thinks he's boss!)... buying more vegetables, and so on.

I know I'm just a silly human and I'll probably get lots more stuff wrong, since it's not all really up to me anyway and I try to think it is, but I'm getting better at knowing when that's the case. Yes.

On the fun side, I bought an adorable dress today to wear for a few events this spring =)

A Trip to the Zoo

Today Megan, Alexander and Izabella went to the zoo with me. In the picture of the peacock, the prarie dog was nipping on the bird's tail, the bird got irritated and started to run away... and dragged the still-clenching rodent along behind it for a bit. We also were greeted with hearty hellos from the resident macaw. It was in the mid 50's and sunny today... absolutely beautiful. See my album for a few more pictures.

oh, work.

I don't know if it's the way I'm coming at it, or if my job is really that bad... but work is making me very angry. More angry than I should be. And it still doesn't go away after I come home. =(

Spring has Sprung!

Early signs of spring from my apartment steps.
It's beautiful today; I should go for a walk at the zoo.

Über-geek vs. reality

It never really crossed my mind before, but the reason why people enjoy fantasy so much is quite obvious. Sometimes reality just stinks. Doh. So we turn to things like the World of Warcraft, some Zelda, some Mario Kart, novels about fantasy races or time warps... others enjoy Jane Austen, Tom Clancy, or hours of Futurama. (I also have to argue that most of the stuff on the G-4 television channel is total fantasy.)

So maybe this is just an excuse for me to enjoy my RPG's or my Legends of the Riftwar in moderation, but it's a good one. I hope the murlocs don't come for me in my dreams, but if they do it's certainly better than a double debit out of my checking account courtesy of the U.S. DOE.

**
Don't worry, when it gets a little warmer I will spend some more time outside in the "real" world. Today's temperature is a nice tease. I am also looking forward to visiting Colorado and the Johnsons in April!

Mozilla Firefox

Every time I close my browser, a window pops up and asks if I would like to delete my cookies. And every time I read it, I wonder how many real-life cookies are left in my jar in the kitchen. Hence my current excuse for my poor eating habits... it's the computer's fault. :)

But really I haven't worked out in weeks, I really am eating a lot of cookies (of the sugar & chocolate-chip varieties) and I'm just now getting around to my Pilates. Maybe that's why I've had no energy lately? I also really need to get with it and get Pilates on DVD. This whole rewinding-the-tape process is super annoying. Everything must go faster now. Welcome to March 2008. (Hmmm, almost tax time.)

Oh, new clumsiness story: after a rough morning of sinus trouble, I brew some coffee around 11:30 and open up a new bottle of hazelnut creamer, I shake it a few times, and bam... it's all over me & the kitchen (with what I thought was a closed-tight lid on top).

weekend fun

My birthday weekend was pretty good. Jenny and Dave decorated my room with balloons and streamers and a sign, and it was a very cute surprise when I came home Friday. I didn't get to see my family, which was a bummer, but my friend Jen came to see me and we saw some old college friends. We went for martinis at Market Street and pretty much had a movie marathon while lounging in our pajamas all weekend. I ate ice cream twice in the same day, but hey, it's my birthday. Sunday I had dinner at the Beauchamp's, because Kim's birthday was the day before. I didn't drive up to Westminster because I was anticipating having jury duty 114 miles away the following day, but it didn't even happen after all. I called at 11pm last night and the recording told me I was finished with my service. So that was a relief, but I wish I'd known a little earlier so I could attend the family birthdayS party up in Bel Air. But all in all it was very relaxing, and nice to see people.
